Title: new bag
Post by: birdymaker on January 22, 2008, 07:20:24 AM
well, with much pondering, i have decided some of the squatters in my bag need to be evicted. the driver, the 4 wood and the irons have performed at an all star level. the supporting cast has been less than spectacular.

2007 bag.
bang o matic 460 9* smt eon competition stiff (when they make a head that can unseat this I'll eat it.  ;) )
innovex 4 wood Apollo hybrid fairway stiff
innovex 3,4,5 hybrids mercury performance stiff
infiniti 422 5-pw Apollo hump reg.
infiniti aw grind gw,sw,lw, rifle spinners 4.5
bobby grace amazing grace

the innovex hybrids were "serviceable" just a little too wood like for hybrids. i never got that crisp iron shot like feel with them. the infiniti wedges are good performers. i need my wedges to be great performers. i putted with an odyssey 2 ball for 3 years and was a great putter. like everyone else my eye wandered. 4 years and 3 putters later, i am a pedestrian putter.

so its time for some changes.

the 2008 bag in it's season starting form.

bang o matic 460 9* smt eon competition stiff
innovex 4 wood Apollo hybrid fairway stiff
nakashima nx-1 2,3,4 hybrids on apollo hybrid iron stiff (#2 course dependent)
infiniti 422 5-pw Apollo hump reg.
nakashima nx-1 52* forged rifle spinner. (course dependent)
titelist vokey chrome 56* rifle spinner.
cleveland 588 60* rifle spinner.
odyssey 2 ball 34"  [sm_love]

second and third string drivers.
r510tp 8.5* on smt eon phantom stiff 45 gram  [sm_shock]
smt db455 on accra t 70 m3

i am also looking for an innovex 3 and 5 wood heads to change out on longer courses.

doc says i can start hitting some balls late next month. it will be interesting to see how my swing is affected by my stiff ankle. it just doesn't work like it did before.

Good luck with the bag AM/BM.  Even better luck with the ankle and so forth.

Me?  Same bag for about three years now.  Definitely an indian rather than an arrow kinda guy.

I'd have expected the wrist to be more an issue ... ?

the wrist due to the fact that it was a nonsurgical fracture should be ok. I'm sure there will be some "stingers" . my right hand is pretty weak right now, so we will have to see how it shakes out.

the ankle is another story. it is stiff on it's best day and painful on it's worst. rotation is pretty good now after therapy 3 times a week. it bends pretty good in a downward motion, upward about 50% of what it did previously. there is a lot of scar tissue across the top.
like i said it will be interesting.

Nice!

I had some Infiniti 422s for a while and regret selling them.  Crazy easy to hit.

Ditto.
(except for the forthcoming new driver)

Does anyone else find humor in this?

Glad to hear you can get out and play.
