HD-DVD is dead unfortunately.  I'm still buying them though.  I'll especially do so when they start blowing them out in midst of the death throes.

I won't buy Blu-Ray this year or perhaps even next.  HDM is such a niche market I'm not convinced it'll survive.  At any rate, I'll not jump for a second format that might not survive until it's absolutely clear it has matured to the point where at least one of their three standards is the standard.   [sm_devil]

J6P is content with upconverted DVD (or less even) at the moment.  If that remains the case for 3-4 years we'll be on the cusp of efficient, cheap and true HD downloads.  At that point Blu-Ray and any other HDM format is toast except for aficionados.  Blu-Ray has won the battle against HD-DVD but can they win the war against DVD and eventually downloads?  I don't think so.

i still refuse to buy into blowray.  i don't want the only 2.0 capable player out there (ps3).   when will the real hardware 2.0's comeout?  probably never.  toshiba will ironically probably make the {1st if it ever happens} (and it will include legacy hd-dvd playback anyways, so go me!).

anyways, as to BB,  they've been on blowrays side since early 2007 anyways,  this is just the formal statement acknowledging they will continue to do so now that the war is effectively over.    the netflix phaseout by end2008 is a far bigger blow $.02

i will never buy into hd-lite downloads either, nor full hd downloads that aren't  'burnable'  in some form.
