Title: A bill for services NOT rendered. Post by: MFAWG on May 29, 2007, 10:16:27 PM From the 'Only In America' department:
(http://www.kpho.com/2007/0524/13384839.jpg) This is a picture of firemen lounging while a building burns down. But wait, there's MORE!!!: http://www.kpho.com/news/13397618/detail.html# Quote Gilbert firefighters responded to the blaze and made sure no life was at risk, but did not fight the fire under a town policy because it is in an unincorporated area. Instead, the Rural/Metro Fire Department went to the fire as a courtesy, but they came too late to save the home. Rural/Metro officials said they'll bill the family about $10,000 dollars anyway. NICE!!!!!! Title: Re: A bill for services NOT rendered. Post by: Spanky on May 30, 2007, 06:20:57 AM I can understand the not fighting the fire, the bill is a bit much.
There is something morally wrong here though. Title: Re: A bill for services NOT rendered. Post by: MFAWG on May 30, 2007, 06:42:04 AM I think the sitting in lawn chairs is pretty precious...
Title: Re: A bill for services NOT rendered. Post by: Jules on May 30, 2007, 02:12:15 PM Do you get charged for fireman coming to fight a fire in the USA.
I don't know if they charge over here, I always thought it was free. Title: Re: A bill for services NOT rendered. Every November. Right JohnnyChimpo? ;)[sm_devil] I know you can be charged for negligent fires under whatever circumstances. Lady here was charged for starting a forest fire on the mountain behind my house. She was having an unauthorized scrub oak burn on a day with 30 mph winds. I think there was a 10% "stupid" surcharge to boot. Title: Re: A bill for services NOT rendered. Most of us live in cities with city fire departments paid for by tax dollars which don't charge unless I suppose you purposely started the fire in question.I don't know if they charge over here, I always thought it was free. You do get charged here... unless you have home insurance, then it's free. For a house fire the minimum attendance is two trucks at about $1000 a truck, for commercial properties three trucks are sent. Title: Re: A bill for services NOT rendered.
