Title: Winter Wonderland
Post by: Uisce Beatha on December 21, 2007, 10:02:51 AM
aka: Why I Love Utah...

Turned my mid-morning coffee break into 30 minutes looking out on this.  Got about 8-10" of snow last night (got stuck in the van in the neighborhood too) and woke up to this sort of day.

Very nice UB!

Sounds like we may get a bit of snow this weekend as well. Not 8-10" but hopefully enough to whiten things up for Christmas.

I gather the restraining order allows you just inside 300x zoom range.   ???

We're due for a bit more and temps to remain below freezing.  Show here and there all weekend and then 26* and partially clear for the big day.   [sm_buddies]

Nice!  I miss seeing snow, and the way everything seems calm and muffled after a nice snowstorm.

Calm and muffled skipped Wyoming.  It took me 2.5 hours to drive a 20 mile stretch of dirt road on the way home from work last night due to complete whiteout conditions. It took me the same amount of time to get to work this morning, busting 3-4 foot drifts and fighting a 20-30 mile wind the whole way.

Well, since the beginning of the thread, we have had plenty of snow.  However, can you still send some our way?  It's melting a bit again.  The ice is only 12 inches deep, and I've only been out ice fishing once so far.

Unfortunately, that kind of weather doesn't do much for the golf game.

Especially if you die of a heart attack moving snow.  I just spent 90 minutes on a two-car driveway and our sidewalk.  We're on a corner so we have a lot of the latter.  It snowed over a foot last night and the plows had built a berm three feet tall and five feet thick at the bottom of the driveway.  Had to clear that by hand and even with a 8hp snowblower I struggled with the rest of it.

Plows just came by again and I have another wall to clear before we can drive anywhere.   :sad3:

Brutal.

Calm right now but slated for storms right through the weekend.  According to the papers this morning we were among the worst hit areas.  We get lake effect off the GSL and one area can get dumped on while down the road it's mild.

Two feet in about 12 hours yesterday.  Spacey's three towns and fifteen miles south of me and he got half-a-foot.

It's crazy.  Down in the main part of Layton and Kaysville it's like you say - maybe a foot.  We've just been in Lake Effect Central for every storm of the past six weeks.  You can literally go three miles north, south or west and see maybe 10-20% of what I have at my house.

The rose bushes in the photo of post #1 are completely buried now.  On the flat parts of my lawn the snow is above my waist (sssshh Clive).  Some of the drifts are neck high (sssshh Clive).  Next to the driveway there I'm having to throw snow seven feet up in order to clear the mounds.

Crazy, haven't seen anything like it in nine years at this house.
