Title: Happy Father's Day
Post by: Spanky on June 15, 2008, 06:05:20 AM
To all the dads on here Happy Fathers day to you.

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it ... Dad

And to all the moms, thanks for putting up with us.

Happy Fathers Day gents  [sm_beertoast]

Whilst Father's Day is not until September here, the "Insignis Genitoris Instrumentum" also known as "iGi" held their annual "Road Trip Poker Event". For those that don't know, "iGi" is what we call ourselves, it's kind of like the "Stonecutters" and is essentially for "Fathers and Potential Fathers".

So in honour of our "iGi" brothers over the pond, cheers.

Happy Fathers' Day you lot.  (Don't correct me EAGLE, the use of the plural possessive is intended.  I'm on a mission to make things right.)

You don't want me to say it's supposed to be "Father's Day"?  Fine, I won't! :D

(Make things right?  Uh-oh, I don't think I want to know what I missed during my hiatus....)

Oh, that.... I remember that thread.  That's all you meant?  The way things happen around here I wasn't sure what was up.

May I then recommend that you not look up "Father's Day" on wikipedia, nor the dictionary, nor the calendar?     Or... shall we start a poll?

Remember, I didn't say a thing. ;)

Well, I wouldn't call Wikipedia an authority and Kim Kardashian has a calendar so...

Oh, and I did start a poll.   ;)

Well, it was rather humorous when wiki said that, if you ever happen to visit Little Canada, you must first exchange your dollars for Canadian currency at the Sinclair gas station on Little Canada Road and 35E.

And I don't know who this Kim person is.  Maybe I should head to wiki to find out?  Or maybe I'd rather not know?

You have officially blown my mind.

You are correct ma'am.  Which, pretty much, makes my point.   ;)

That's not even the whole of it!  Read this paragraph:

"In 1803, the Louisiana Purchase was the acquisition by the United States government. At the time others countries also laid claim to what is now Minnesota. The Canadians had various settlements in Minnesota, the largest of which was 10 miles North of Saint Paul, MN. President Thomas Jefferson decided that the best way to avoid war, was to allow the land to remain under Canadian control. Therefor all the residents of Little Canada are full Canadian citizens, with access to free health care, signs in both English and French and pride in it's citizens such as Wayne Gretzky and the band Rush. If you ever happen to visit Little Canada you must first exchange your dollars for Canadian currency at the Sinclair gas station on Little Canada Road and 35E."

I don't think I fully read the wiki article you all were working on, so you'll have to tell me how that little bit of nonsense compares to whatever you all were writing up, providing of course that you all weren't actually writing something serious.  (Seriousness?  Has that ever been the case here?  Okay, maybe a few threads, but not many.)  That is, if anyone is still able to say anything sensible after reading that.

Yeah, I figured that. :D

Still, you haven't said anything against the dictionary. ;)

Irishmen consider the dictionary optional.  Consider James Joyce...

:D It was an easy thread to find.  (Don't you agree?)  Plus, dystopia has a pretty good search feature here.

And why save something in a file when it's archived on Golfhos?
