It was from 18 yards. I was practicing my distance control by randomly shooting from distances of 10, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25 yards etc. I've always used the nocks that have metal reinforcement in them, which makes them basically impossible to split even on a dead on hit, as I've shot off 100's of nocks before and never split one. So the first time I buy new nocks (what most people use) that don't have the reinforcement I split one. ;D

Some more recent groups here (http://www.freegolfinfo.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=2360747&mpage=1&key=&#2360747) if anyone wants to see them. 8)

If those were the odds, I think I would have gotten a few more in my 16 years of shooting with 300-400+ arrows a day. ;D

Kev, when are you gonna buy me some new arrows?  I need some, you know.  Or wait, maybe I could have a few of the next batch you purchase?  After all, you only need 2 and you have to buy 6.... :D

Oh, Torp. it's obvious you don't understand the concepts of higher mathematic probabilities.  That's ok though.  It's really not that tough.  It's exactly like what Dr. Malcom described in Jurassic Park with non linear equations, and strange attractives.  It's identical in archery, only not really, because the knock has no inherent genetic material.  You understand.

So, what it all means is, everything that takes place in our existence falls into one of two categories.  Either an even occurs, or it does not.  A lot the way Uisce views the rules of golf, which must make him terribly tedious to play with, but I understand he has great calves, so I guess it's a wash.

You're arrow hit was a simple 50/50 proposition.

That time............you did it.  See?

You're welcome.  Most of the reason I'm here.

I'd've thought that there'd be an apostrophe in Menard's, but most businesses' grammatical skills aren't that great, and it's usually reflected in their marketing copy as well as in their logos' design work.

Well, I still have good vision - 20/20 without correction - but it was 20/15 back in the day.

But I was thinking about the other stuff - the cables, tension settings, etc.  It hasn't exactly been stored properly  ;) :-[

And I was all manual back then - basic sights, no stabilizer... ya know - old school  ;)

Hmmmm... perhaps I'll get it from the garage and take a look.

No, and no.

Well, things aren't in that bad o shape.  The insert with the rest on it is falling out - will need some epoxy.  The flights on the arrows are in bad shape, would need new.  And I must have shot it a few times after high school - the newspaper I had the broad heads wrapped in was dated 1991  ;)

Its a Martin circa 1984 (yep, older than you [sm_shock] ), custom camo paint by yours truly  :D

Cool. 8) Like the paint job, what was it originally?
Do you remember the poundage and FPS you got shooting it, it's only been 20 years. ;D
That's the rest and pin sites that I started with back on my old Browning compound. I was accurate with them too, but the new rests where the arrows hit nothing as you release them, are a lot smoother.

a little bit, here and there. don't have any gear of my own yet.  just loaner stuff with some friends.    typically hit 75-80% of inner ring from 10 yards, with the rest in the 2nd ring.   from 20 yards typically about 50% in the inner ring, 40% in the 2nd ring, and 10% in the 3rd ring.    kinda hard to get back into it.   just 1 hour or so every other month

Was originally black, cannot recall the poundage - nothing too strong as I recall (I was a skinny little *feces* when I got it).

The rest was going to be the next improvement as I recall - the sights were just fine once I put the peep on there.  Lost my place to shoot when I left for college and slowly lost interest.

You could've bought a Mobile Home cheap on eBay ( or someplace else, if eBay wasn't invented yet way back then ;D ) and done this (http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=90572) then. 8) ;D

I'd almost say the same thing - well, maybe not exactly quite like that - but recently Kev's been badgering me to pick up a compound again, and I might just do that.  Still wouldn't use sites, but it'd still be a compound.

I don't like peep sites; that's why I've only been using a recurve for the past 12 years or so.  But maybe I'll pick it up someday.

I was not completely sold on peep sights before I got mine either - but there was no denying the increase in consistancy.  Its a keeper.

If you like those ones, you'd love the ones that have the rubber that ties to the string, (you can see it in the pic I posted) it *guarantees* that the hole will *always* be positioned perfectly centered, and not crooked when you draw it back. You only lose about 6-8 FPS with it, which is only a couple more than the one you currently have on, and well worth the trade. Nothing like drawing back and not being able to see through your peep sight. [sm_banghead]

It's not that I am unwilling to try them; I have, and I don't like them.  I might give 'em another chance someday, just not now.  Consistency, however, is a skill and requires practice.  While such devices can greatly assist one's aim, practice is still required, which is why someone can be just as good of a shot and just as consistent without sites as someone with sites.
