I find it interesting that it is pointed out in the headline, the body of the story and the police report that this was a "hot sauce" bottle.

Does it matter?  Could they not just say glass bottle or plastic bottle?  Is this sensationalist journalism or the public's appetite for salacious details?

I can see if the attempt was quantitative in nature to establish size.  Say, "A Champagne bottle..."  vs.  "A beer bottle..."  That could at least establish validity and need of (State paid) medical treatment.  (Which seemed to be a large point on which the story was predicated.)
