How far are you willing to travel?  Poppy Ridge is near by, and it seems to be recommended a lot, but I never thought it was all that.

He's probably closer to Poppy Hills, although I'd lean toward playing Pasatiempo (http://www.pasatiempo.com/web/), which is even closer.

Nice course...some others I have played and thought were nice:
Cinnabar Hills
Coyote Creek
Deep Cliff

I like the courses south of San Jose, along 101.

Here's a good map showing relative proximities to SJ:
http://www.ncga.org/course-dir/south-bay-area/

I like all three of these:
Coyote Creek (I prefer the Tournament course over Valley)
Cinnebar
Eagle Ridge

If you're interested in something different, more tricked up, there's The Ranch (http://www.theranchgc.com/).  It's closer than the others.  Crazy elevation changes on some of the holes, bunker in the middle of a green.  Lots of environmentally sensitive areas, so you lose a lot of balls.  I had a 7-putt on one of the greens.

If you're looking for tee time specials, I used to use this site a lot:
http://www.golfnow.com/sanfrancisco/cty.asp
(South Bay)

Sorry, no.  I actually haven't seen her in several weeks.  I've been out of town, she's been busy looking into starting a new biz (which I think is a mistake for her, but....).

Inviting a girl to go on a golf trip with you is like inviting a girl to go out drinking with the guys.

Well excuse me!!!! [sm_shock]
The thought of weekend away playing golf sounds fantastic to me!!! It's just as good as Russell doing a bit of housework! ;) ;) ;D

Well, I was actually thinking more from the woman's perspective. You seem to be a rare breed when it comes to interest in golf. Then again, this is a golf forum despite the dearth of actual golf discussion here.

What he said.  I think I could only get Karen away for a weekend of golf, only because she recognizes my extreme interest in it.  Even in going ........she wouldn't play golf with me.  She would stay at the hotel, or go shop or just relax.

My dearth, and stuff.

I couldn't see many women having an interest in a date type deal.  I could be wrong.

Well, she has previously expressed a desire to learn to golf  [sm_naughty]

However, if I'm in northern Cali with a fine lady - I'm thinking the vino touring would take precedence over golf.  :D ;)

Thats just how I roll.
