Title: Car Knowing Stuff Type Guy(s)
Post by: stroh on October 14, 2007, 06:53:01 PM
I wanna get new rims and tires for the Mustang.  Right now I have 17 in Mustang bullet rims.  (guy I got the car from put them on.  Low profile tires.  Looks ok, but not my deal.)

I want different rims, and tires, more of a fatter tire on the back, and smaller on the front, hot rod type look.  I figure (and I'm guessing 16 x 8 back, 15 x 7 front ?  I don't know, but that isn't really the question.)

My guess is, the "guy" (whether it's Goodyear, Tires Plus, or Anoka Tire and Auto) is gonna tell me the same thing........Your rims aren't worth anything. (from experience)

I find that hard to believe.  Is it worth trying to put them on ebay?  Will the price of shipping kill it?   How about to a recycle place for the amount of aluminum?

Are they really "worthless" ?

"Thanks!  You know,.......you could have been help, but you've been so much more."

This is you 66(?)

They're not worth anything to the guy taking 'em off. Tire guys have enough inventory issues without worrying about how much they're into a set of wheels that may sit around for a year or year and a half.

They are worth something on Craigslist or E-Bay. That's just the way it is.

Ok, that makes sense.  I get everything except :  " This is you 66(?) "

Would someone pay the shipping on rims?  (I've never ebayed  [sm_anon] )

= This is some kind of vintage Mustang, IIRC?

I'd probably tell you to Craigslist FIRST, assuming that you don't live in the Yukon somewhere, just to avoid the expense of shipping...

I'd also stay away from 15" wheels, just because you're really restricted with tire sizes and brands.

On the Omega I did 16x8's all the way around, with 235-60-16's out back and 215-60-16's on the front, and it looks perfect.

You can go as low as 205 on an 8 inch wheel, and up to a 245 or even bigger.

I guess you've finally broken down and decided to get these.

Apparently, on the main page, I'm constantly expressing whatever surge I may build.
