Round 2 awaits us.  The format for this round shall be a modified Stableford.  To wit:

Score (NET) on Hole -- Modified Stableford Score
Albatross (Double Eagle, yeah right): +8
Eagle: +5
Birdie:   +2
Par: 0
Bogey: -1
Worse Than Bogey: -3

As you should realize, this format promotes a more aggressive approach to the round, as successfully taking risks is handsomely rewarded and horrible, Clive-like scores are not overly penalized.

Teams remain the same with slight handicap adjustments (that I'll edit into this post within 24 hours).  If anyone's USGA or GameTrack handicap has changed from what is posted below, please PM me and let me know.

The prevailing wisdom is captains turn in their player sheets for the round (ten players, in order of pairings), but that ALL PLAYERS try to get out and play nine holes.

Deadline to turn score in to me: end of day (Eastern again), Sunday, 03JUN2007.

Captains:

Team Foreskin originally had lennyquai aboard.  With his non-participation, the teams are out of balance, 12 to 10.  As the team handicap averaged a 9, I suggest that either Dunk or Walfredo be moved across the line from Team TIT to Team Foreskin.  Personally, I'd vote for Dunk, because his eyes are dreamy and not least because Walfredo reeks of bong water ... but it's your call.

I remember once in a YMCA basketball league I had to play in the fourth quarter 'cuz there was a rule that even short, crappy kids with accents and Fab Four haircuts had to play so many minutes.  Close game in the playoffs.  So anyhoo, we're losing and I was talked into "jamming my thumb" so a player who knew HTF to play basketball could come back in.  And we won!!!

Thanks to Ted too, but it looks from what you said that you are a definite 'get out and player' so I left you in the hat and my son drew the name of Walfredo from the bits of paper on my desk.

Therefore Seamus and Walfredo will rest this round, thanks guys.  You should play if you can though in case one of the other guys can't get out or are weather bound.  It's important for us to get results in so we don't have to forfeit any.  Cheers.

I played 9 Saturday, and I'm playing 18 tomorrow, and hopefully more before June 3.

I plan on turning in my best 9 hole score (or best front 9 if 18 is played), I don't remember seeing anything in the rules that prohibits this am I correct? I'm going back over the rules Clive posted in round 1 now.

First nine played = scoring nine.

Just to be clear.  If I play 9 on Monday, and  18 on Tuesday, and 9 on Thursday, and 18 on Saturday. The GHRC scoring 9 is the first 9 I played on Monday, Si?.

Sorry for my ambiguity.  I meant that if you play a full round, I take the front nine.  I did this to be fair to those who go out for nine holes only -- a lot of players get warmed up over that first nine and shoot better coming in, so I'm trying to have everyone use their "cold" first nine score.

Obviously, what one cannot do is cherry-pick a nine-hole score out of a group of such scores.  For example, you cannot play 9 on Monday, then decide to discard that nine (e.g. based on poor performance) and play 18 Tuesday.  Or play 18 Tuesday and cherry-pick the better nine of that day.  You decide before you tee it up whether that day's golf is Golfhos Ryder Cup golf, then play the first nine accordingly.

I'm supposed to be playing tomorrow.

However, tornado forecast and my clubs are in the trunk of a friend's car and he's away on bidness.

I have other clubs I can use though if the weather allows, it might only be 25-30 mph winds.

Not to look hypocritical, but ... I decided in advance that I wasn't going to mar a fun outing by trying to graft a competitive aspect onto my play that day.

(Personally, golf had become so not-fun for me that I quit it last year, so I wasn't keen on doing anything that would spoil a "golf might be fun after all" day.  Baby steps, and all that.)

So if I play with the grumpy old men in Tuesday at a course I don't play particularly well, I have to use that round as opposed to deciding that my front on the 27th or 28th would be a better deal?

I can live with that, but I'm not sure Capt. Foreskin can... ;D

You said to me that day that "you didn't want this to be your GHRC round", and I think I told you something in error not fully understanding Clive's post until we returned from golf and I had a chance to read his latest.  If you ask me, if you decide on the 27th or 28th that one of those rounds is your GHRC round I think you are allowed.

You arrive at the first tee.  You don your special Golfhos spectacles and look around.  If your Virtual Opponent is on that first tee with you, it's your GHRC round!  If s/he isn't there, then it's not your GHRC round.

I went Par-Triple-Bogey-Bogey-Double-Bogey-Bogey-Double(Actually, DQ for improper drop)-Bogey.

Back: Bogey-Bogey-Double-Bogey-Double (I got 'cute' with my approach and a shortsided bunker shot. Still hurts) Bogey-Par-Par-Bogey.

I turned in my round on Monday. Not really great, (or even good), but a round nonetheless. :sad3:
Of course, the weather was beautiful, much better, in fact, than my driving. A few good approach shots and some pretty good chipping and putting saved me from total embarassment. :P ::)

Luckily for you, you're competing against me this round.

We shall see. You may be the lucky one.
BTW, there's no worry about me 'cherry picking' a round. This was only the third time out this year. The fist time was around the beginning of April. Second was round one of the TIT/Foreskin competition. This is the third.  :sad3:
