Title: don't worry, i'll pay for it [Politics/Religion] Post by: birdymaker on April 23, 2008, 06:16:37 AM :sad3: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24269007
Quote As the subprime fallout grows, the idea of a public bailout isn't sounding as far-fetched as it once did. Quote In an interview with The Wall Street Journal last month, Senator Hillary Clinton, a candidate for the U.S. Democratic presidential nomination, said the U.S. government should be ready to buy troubled mortgages from investors and avoid a prolonged slowdown. ooooh, shivers just went up my spine, visions of boot camp came back. Will taxes be raised to cover this? I doubt it.
We've made a conscious decision not to be house rich and cash poor. I have very little sympathy for those that bought more house than they can afford. Ditto. Any bail out rewards bad behavior (*both sides of the table - I've made my opinion known before). I'll reserve judgement on Hillary's comment until I see her plan. I do wish people who actually do things the way they should could get a tax credit for having a mortgage they can afford and being fiscally intelligent (i.e. savings, retirement, etc.). A reverse bail out if you will. :) Maybe if good behavior was rewarded once in a while?? But there are so many victims ...We're all going to be paying for it not in taxes, but in the price of everything that financing touches. Personal or commercial. |
