Shows what I know. OTOH, he requested a trade and one presumes he requested it to a contender. Since trading him to the Angels or Rangers was out of the question, this was probably the best option. I was a little disappointed at the cheers when Felix hit ARod, but I saw more than a few people that had severe allergies crop up when Ichiro came to bat the first time. I heard today was even more epic, including a much deserved curtain call after the game. He'll be moving to left field now as well. Interesting to see if he still has the range to cover that much ground, and he could go to town batting with the insanely short right field porch at Yankee Stadium. Now the question is: What happens next year? Alot of variables to consider there. The Yankee fans understand that Ichiro-san is really a once in a lifetime kind of player, and can still make a major contribution down the stretch and into the post season.
It's going to pain me to root for the Yankees, but the guy absolutely deserves the best shot he can get to play for all the marbles. |
