What is your favorite recipe, Sal?

Was that nice enough? :)

My favourite recipe? That's a funny thing to ask, since I usually don't cook with recipes, but with ingredients. However, my favourite recipe'd food would be my grandmother's rice stuffed tomatoes, with feta caps. Severely yummy and light.

I almost added that you very well might not use a recipe.  But to my thinking at least, any time you make something there is a recipe behind it, in that you know what you want to add.

sounds delicious, btw

I don't have the slightest idea, though I'd guess sooner than later. Maybe a couple of months after we met. It just emerged at some point. As to why, because he is all that I want from a significant other to be. No relationship is ever perfect, but getting pretty close to perfect is good for me.

What brought you here from Greece?
Do Greeks actually eat Gyros?
Do Greeks actually listen to Yanni?
If a bear falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, can a tree take a *feces* on him?
Cats or dogs?
Best movie villain?

What brought you here from Greece?
Aske, primarily. What reinforced the decision was that my employment situation was getting to a dead point, so I didn't leave any kind of super job behind me.
Do Greeks actually eat Gyros?
Yes, and it's thousand times better than anything I've eaten here. Duh!
Do Greeks actually listen to Yanni?
I only encountered ONE person in my life that liked Yanni. I also thought that said person was a total idiot.
If a bear falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, can a tree take a *feces* on him?
It has to take a ticket, wait in line and fill up a YT-213 application first. That, IF the tree can manage its sphincter.
Cats or dogs?
Dogs. Herding cats was never one of my hobbies.
Best movie villain?
Who was that guy in that first Highlander movie that got all berserk when a hooker presented a condom to him? That one.

Is it true the Greeks Don't Want No Freaks?

That was just the Spartans, that would throw their defective babies into Kaiadas. The rest of them would probably live with it. After all, bear in mind that most of the greatest diviners in ancient greek myth are blind. They didn't throw those anywhere..

Most people get hung up on the bit about gettin' down and doin' the gator, and half an hour later, you were barfin' all over your girlfriend's shoes.

Admittedly, the only Cassandra they know is a stripper.

I have a Greek friend who brings 'real' (read: home made) Ouzo back every time he goes home for a visit.  Your opinion?

Not really. I like interesting compositions and color contrasts. Also, I prefer shooting during the day rather than during the night.

We've been married since August 2004. We had a small but not too small wedding. About 50 people. Only 4 peeps on my side. We all had a blast. No, we didn't play any Greek music.

Sir, there is NOTHING like the real Ouzo.

That said, I have not tasted home made one. I would, if I had the chance, of course!

Sal,

The stuff my buddy, Christos, gave me was incredible.  Clear as water, but cloudy poured over ice.  Great flavor.  Almost hallucinogenic.  Are we talking the same thing?

Ted

Yes, we do. All ouzo has the property of "clouding" when mixed with water or ice.

Did you grow up with a pet or pets?
Would you like to have one now or in the future?
Highlander or Holy Grail?
How much of the US have you seen? What here would you like to see that you haven't?
When did you learn English? Was it hard for you?
Denny Crane or Alan Shore?
Which country produced better philosophers, Germany or Greece? ( [sm_devil])

What's your favorite band/music?

Skyclad/Jethro Tull. Folk/Medieval
Who's your favorite author?
Tom Robbins/J.R.R.Tolkien
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cheese pies
Favorite cocktail/adult beverage?
Sangria, Cosmopolitan
Career ambitions?
I don't feel ambitious right now. I'd like to teach again, and take it from there.
Who's funnier, you or aske?
We're both teh funnies. But nowhere near the same.
Did you grow up religious?
Yes. My parents are very Greek Orthodox.
If so, were your parents disappointed when you married outside a/the church?
Because of the whole foreign husband thing, they didn't say anything. Now, if I was to marry a Greek guy outside the church, they'd throw a fit the size of Africa.
Do you like watching sports anywhere near as much as your hubby?
I enjoy watching football, golf, tennis, gymnastics, track and field. I can tolerate football in small dosages.

Did you grow up with a pet or pets?
Nope. My dad hated pets in an apartment.
Would you like to have one now or in the future?
Yes, once we can provide it an appropriate environment.
Highlander or Holy Grail?
Holy Grail, hands down
How much of the US have you seen? What here would you like to see that you haven't?
I've seen Pitt, Fort Worth and San Antonio. I want to go to New York and L.A. and the Gran Canyon and Hawaii.
When did you learn English? Was it hard for you?
I started when I was months. My mom taught me words, and I went to a proper language school when I was 8. English is very easy for Greeks, because the grammar is so simpler.
Denny Crane or Alan Shore?
Alan Shore.
Which country produced better philosophers, Germany or Greece? ( [sm_devil])
Would the Germans be the way they turned up w'out the Greeks? ( [sm_devil])

Did you die thinking or something?
No, I'm just not used to doing it, so it takes a while. Okay how about:

What is your opinion of missionaries and proselytizing? ( [sm_devil])
How many slices of pizza would you consider an "average" serving?
Assuming you drink coffee, what do you like in it? What's your favorite roast?
If you could pick one Black Metal band to never have to listen to again, who would it be? ( [sm_devil] [sm_devil])
Do you consider yourself to be "girly" or more of a tomboy?
Favorite non-soccer player wife Spice Girl?
Calvin or Hobbes?
Calvin or Hobbes?
Favorite thing you experienced upon arriving in the US that you'd never experienced before?

What is your opinion of missionaries and proselytizing? ( Devil)
I strongly disagree with both practices, and any religion that practices as such is far from respected by me.
How many slices of pizza would you consider an "average" serving?
Three
Assuming you drink coffee, what do you like in it? What's your favorite
roast?
I take it with cream and a couple of Splendas. I like french roast, but I also like Nescafe instant (not the taster's choice crap, mind you). I also like Colombian, and some flavoured kinds.
If you could pick one Black Metal band to never have to listen to again, who would it be? ( Devil Devil) Ah, hard to tell. It'd have to be some band like Meshuggah, but that's not black metal.
Do you consider yourself to be "girly" or more of a tomboy? I'm right in the middle, strangely enough
Favorite non-soccer player wife Spice Girl? Ew, Spice Girls.
Calvin or Hobbes? n/a
Calvin or Hobbes? still n/a, after 1/30 of a second
Favorite thing you experienced upon arriving in the US that you'd never experienced before?
Soda and coffee refills :)

Calvin or Hobbes was actually two different questions, but that's okay. I guess I'll go the rest of my life without knowing on either count.  :sad3:

Assuming all jobs stay the same, if you two were to settle down in Pittsburgh and buy a house, what neighborhoods/districts/boroughs would you consider? (I'm fairly familiar with "dahntahn")

in order to be in a good neighborhood,  with what we make now,  we'd need to live well outside the city.  cranberry, monroeville subs, etc  ...  looking at 30 year finance, it would probly be in the 175-200k range ... and we would still struggle to keep up with property taxes LOL

with a great budget,  millionairre's row on beechwood maybe?

I won't disregard it.

I am aware of your spiritual background, and how it clashes with mine, since the FGI days. So, I just agree to disagree with you, and anyone who is a devout follower of any organized religion that practices anything that I disagree with, because really I'm not a hypocrite and therefore it won't be me preaching you, or anyone else for that matter.

However, I will expect that no preaching will happen from anyone else for that matter, at least in this forum. And, I will expect that noone will be offended of any spiritual related material I might post of, if such material will not be of preaching or proselytizing content.

Fair? ;)
