Talking with a co-worker today I just realized that being off on Mondays now may improve my chance at playing golf this year. Mondays are the cheapest and easiest days to get on courses and they are typically empty.

Absolutely.  I would love to have Mondays off.  People can have Friday if they want it.  I would rather get off work on Friday, enjoy Friday evening but then have a full day Sat. and a full day Sun. without having to worry about winding down to get ready for work.

What about when you have a Public Holiday on a Monday, wouldn't that screw you over pay wise?

Depends on who you work for.

I've worked for both.

You're always scheduled off Mondays, not only do you get Monday off but you would then get Tuesday off as your Holiday.  Paid.

I've also worked for "Oh, you're already off Monday?  Ha.  So are we.  See you Tuesday."

What really sucked was at the hospital.  The 11p - 7a night shift.  They worked Technically "Monday to Friday".  So a Monday holiday, they of course "got off" just like the rest of us.  One of us had to cover that shift.  So you're off weekend and all day Monday but at 11p you're on.

Not good for us drinkers.

Funny about that.... no matter what hours you work, it always gets in the way of drinking.

Unfortunately with night shift, people seem to frown upon someone drinking a dry martini at 7am. I see no problem with this if I've just finished work...

Oh those were the days.  We were just talking about that the other day at work.  Nothing better than rolling out of work at 7 and heading to the bar.

Good times.

Having a bowl of pasta and several bottles of red over lunch is not a bad way to go either... ;)

I work sift work so holidays mean nothing to me. I'm off on my weekends and work when I work. So if the holiday falls on my work day I work and if it falls on my day off, well then I'm off with everyone else. I get holiday either way.

The only good part of shift work is I only work 7 out of every 14 days.
