I was reading this  (http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Banking/HomeFinancing/1-in-4-mortgage-defaults-may-be-strategic.aspx) article on MSN and after seeing the title, reading the first couple of paragraphs, and realizing today's date is 04/22/2010 I realized that by the hands of MSN I had been Ric Romerolled (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l277/peachy92/romero4rr8xe.gif).

It's a play on  Ric Romero (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ric_Romero) and the phenomena of being  Rickrolled (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rickrolled)

This guy writes an article yesterday to inform us that some people find it more advantageous to just walk away than continue paying on an underwater property.



Well, he didn't.  But metaphorically he did.  I can't apologize enough for his lack of judgement and poor behavior.  He's a decent guy that does like to over indulge and get crazy, but I trusted he would temper that for the golf course.  Hope it hasn't ruined any future opportunity for you and I to tee it up.  Plus I owe you 10 bucks.

You shouldn't and don't have to apologize for the actions of others.  But if he truly wants to get better (and you were giving him solid advice) he might want to try to play 18 holes sober sometime.  Being so hammered that you can't even tee up a ball after a while is not an avenue to improvement, IMO.  But that's the golf part.  The sideswiping of the carts and the overrunning of the stakes and ropes w/the cart is something he shouldn't do again.  You were right when you told him that the course would take a dim view of that if they saw it.

Thanks.  We went to the range in preparation and with my instruction and some of my training aids he was hitting the ball pretty well.  He has some potential.  Sad to see him lose all of that and bury it with booze Sunday under the guise of being intimidated in a real world golf competition playing along with you and I.


As odd as it may sound to my fans here it's good advice for me as well.  In fact it's something I've been planning for a while now.  I've always been just good enough at this game, and had just a good enough swing to play it.  Go out make 5 or 6 pars.  Get some good looks at birdie.  Hit some shots that leave the people I get hooked up with saying "Man you can play" 

But I'm a hypocrite.  I go out and play saying "I'm out here to just drink my beer and have fun, and golf just gets in the way."  All the while playing like someone like A.J. would kill for.  That shot I hit into 6 was probably the shot of my life, as well as the 7 iron into 16.  What did I do?  Nothing. Worse than nothing.  Cocky enough to putt with my 7 iron and miss it 3 times.  Makable birdie, leave with double bogey. Too busy boozing it up, schmoozing it up, no discipline. And subsequently *goshdarn* it up.  I walk off with par on one hole, and can't even record a score on the next one.

All the while thinking I'm better than that.

So at the same time, I'll come on to a place like this and post about how I can't get out of my own way.  When in reality what I can't do is set the beer can down long enough to pick up a club and hit the next shot.

I think it's time I take the game seriously and play at the level I'm capable of. 

Honestly?  Slightly buzzed.  I've played 18 holes stone cold sober many times.  Played like *feces*.  But what I need to get away from is using the excuse of being able to cruise around at an open bar and the cart girl at my disposal as an excuse for why I keep missing putts or why I pushed the 6 on that par 3.


Agreed.  We(he) should have been thrown out for that *feces*.
