Title: Jus' Me
Post by: E-A-G-L-E! on April 14, 2007, 04:09:53 PM
So it's just me, a lurker (who hasn't been actively reading for ~10 minutes according to who's online), and some spiders here.  Not to mention, I'm home alone.  Well, almost... Grandma is here, too.  Right now, it's so relaxing I'm almost bored.  Could change any minute if Grandma decides she wants to make supper, but for now it's quiet.

Yeah, when Grandma gets a craving, things can go sideways in a hurry.

lol

Actually, when she's hungry she tries to find crackers or something small like that then tries to hide it from us by hiding it behind the newspaper, behind her back, or going into some other room.  We try to encourage honesty and let her know to feel free to eat a snack (part of her reluctance to snack in front of us seems like it can be traced back to the depression era).  However, she forgets it so fast due to Alzheimer's.

When it comes to supper preparations that be, well, scary.  Or rather her wanting to do it on her own...  'Cause then we have to try to persuade her to let us do the majority of the cooking as she really doesn't have the capabilities as well as judgment needed to do this.  At times, it's hard to find a balance that she will agree to.  Sadly, lately we have begun to notice that even the things that she can do (i.e. safe for her to do) are becoming less and less as her eyesight becomes worse along with a noticeable decrease in strength since spring of 2006 more especially since the snow and ice hit the ground.  :(

Anyway, what you said was funny regardless of what we deal with everyday. 8) (That's something that's not always the case where jokes and such are concerned.)  And thanks for reading a post that probably has a good deal of info that really doesn't pertain to anything....

lol - I think that's a good thing.  (At least, you aren't thinking I'm younger than I am anyway.  Right?)

My neighbor has mentioned the Waltons before, but I don't know anything about it really - other than it's a tv show and that it's about the Walton family (whoever they are).

This thread is really making me feel old.

Why?

Would it help you feel younger if I mention that my grandma is 87?

You feel old at 39 even when there's mention of someone 50 years older than you?   [sm_scratch]  39 isn't old.

It is when your knees hurt, your back hurts, your arm hurts, you have to squint sometimes to read things. Age creeps up on you. My mind thinks I'm 25 but my body is telling me otherwise.

No 39 is not old, but it's not young either. I can remember when I was 20 or so and the older people were talking about shows, music, things they remember and I would say "what is Gunsmoke" or "Who is this Phil Silvers". And I could see in their eyes the realization of a generation gap.

I have that look.
