Title: Odd dedications
Post by: geo1 on June 07, 2007, 09:24:23 AM
[sm_disgust]Was at restaurant (fine steak house) with wife and her cousin Sally.  Steaks arrived and the red wine was poured.  We toasted and the cousin promptly scooped ice from the water glass and dumped it in the wine?  She tells us she prefers red to be chilled and if it isn't will add enough ice to do the trick.  Still gags me to this day.

I was about 14 years old when the following occurred.  Dad and I were on a fishing trip with one of his buds from work.  This buddy was drinking Johnny Walker and milk.  That was his favorite drink.  Somehow or another, my life was forever damaged.  [sm_yuck]

My wife's grandparents routinely put ice or ginger ale in their white wine, and I've seen ice go into a glass of red once or twice.

Yes!  Top Five Rants Evar!  Classic.  Another is Cosell's  MNF rant.

Does Namath's drunken sideline interview qualify as a rant. That was awesome. Like a trainwreck, awesome.

Those are both crazy!  [sm_shock]  I don't even know what I'd do if someone did either of those things. (although it might be funny to do the ice in red wine thing in front of some of my wine snob friends.  [sm_devil] )

I did try milk and pepsi when I was a kid because of Laverne & Shirley.  I thought it might taste like a coke float.

I have a friend who puts ice in his wine, both white and red. (Riuniti on ice, so nice.  [sm_disgust]) But he drinks crap, typical red wine being Carlo Rossi Paisano, so it doesn't really matter. I always forget about his taste in wine, and haven't managed to develop a habit of declining when he offers it with dinner when we dine at his place.

Johnny Walker (or any whiskey- scotch or otherwise) with milk is just plain repugnant. My dad's typical cocktail is caffeine free Diet Coke with Smirnoff vodka, which is also nasty. Pretty much everyone in my family has a horror story of accidentally picking up dad's drink and taking a swig.

When I was a little kid, my grandmother used to mix water with coke (about 50/50).  I never could figure out if she actually liked it that way or if she just did it to discourage us from wanting any.

Once I tried a Guinness float, which wasn't bad. This last Christmas, some of you might remember, I mixed bourbon and Frangelico accidentally with buttermilk instead of eggnog. Continues to turn my stomach as I type.

Man I just had a flashback, my Mom was an alcoholic for a long time, well technically still is.  Her drink was Vodka and Tab, anybody even remember Tab?

Tab? I can't give you a tab unless you order something.

I remember Tab. BTW, it's still produced in it's original "cola"  and a new Tab Energy drink. I've seen the energy drink in stores.

On topic, my wife will occasionally put ice in her white wine.

[sm_hide]  I have been known to put ice in white wine that hasn't been properly chilled.  But, I promise, only the first glass, while the bottle chills.

I've also put ice into a homemade martini, when I'm too lazy to get the shaker and then wash it later.

If it was that four thousand dollar hooch, I hope it was whole milk.  You can't skimp on something like that with 2%.
