There are several jobs in Austin (including one for environmental engineer, if that's your thang). This might be a way to combine your educational background and interest in HD electronics while working for a company that appreciates education and was a supporter of HD DVD. You might have to tone down your "Kill multi-national korprit entities!"-stance though.  ;D

Nice find.   ;D

That would be cool.

Austin is where their U.S. semiconductor fab is located. They built a large 300mm plant and are going to be building more. They are probably the largest player in the memory chip business. (64/128Mb EDO DRAM 64Mb SDRAM 32Mb SGRAM is what they're doing in TX right now.)

[serious]Aske -  I can get you a couple names if needed. I have no idea if they can help but ?? [/serious]

What is this? A plant for ants? How can they be expected to make semiconductors... if they can't even fit inside the building? I don't wanna hear your excuses! The building has to be at least... three times bigger than this!

The latest and greatest size of the silicon wafer used in making computer chips. Also plants/factories in the industry are called 'fabs' shortened from semiconductor fabrication plant. So you will hear them called 200mm fabs or 300mm fabs etc. based on the wafer size they are built around.

Would you be able to stand living amongst all the 'Horns fans?

Yeah cause I'd be friends with the pot smoking mellow ones.  Besides there is a mutual respest for each other that would make it tolerable.

I like SA alright.  My aunt lived there while I was growing up.  I'd say

1.  Austin
2.  SA or DFW area if I made ass loads of money (only cause I have a bunch of college friends that live there and my brother lives in FW now)

You could be an EE tech like me.

I have heard a a lot about this plant only because most of the people that left TI went there. There was rumor that the new fab here in Dallas was going to be sold to them but I have yet to see any news on that.

At least with a PhD you get paid for what you know, plus you wouldn't be working in the fab.
