Title: Coffe maker Post by: Spanky on March 09, 2007, 04:22:16 PM Mine is having problems. I want a new one. I am the only one that drinks it. Recommend one to me. Cheaper the better but I like a good cup of coffee.
Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: stroh on March 09, 2007, 04:53:13 PM Drop the 90 bucks on a Bunn. Instant coffee. Never a problem, easy to use.
We've had this one 6 years now. Full pot in about 90 seconds. (http://www.coffee-makers-cafe.com/image-files/bunn_coffee_makers_b10-b.jpg) Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: Seamus on March 09, 2007, 05:55:49 PM Joe DiMaggio says...

Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: MFAWG on March 09, 2007, 07:28:12 PM 29 bucks, Mr. Coffee, indestructible, looks nice, dragged from Santa Rosa, Ca to Seattle, Wa, to Fairbanks, back to Seattle, may be getting ready to back to NC.
Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: MFAWG on March 09, 2007, 07:28:53 PM I actually prefer instant coffee, to perculated coffee!!!!!! [sm_shock] There is something very, very wrong with you. Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: Salamander on March 09, 2007, 07:30:16 PM I actually prefer instant coffee, to perculated coffee!!!!!! [sm_shock] I love iced instant coffee, though when warm I'd rather have either filtered or cappuccino. Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: Torpedo on March 09, 2007, 07:30:36 PM Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: spacey on March 09, 2007, 07:30:55 PM Quite honestly our Mr. Coffee makes as decent a cup of coffee as any we've tried. It's not fast, but it's manageable. The real secret is to brew with fresh ground beans and cold filtered water. Beyond that, I'm not convinced the machine makes any real difference, as long as it's clean and the coffee hasn't been sitting long. (Every 6 weeks or so, I run vinegar through it to keep the workings clean.)
Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: Salamander on March 09, 2007, 07:31:31 PM More coffee for us :D

Now, instant coffee!!!!! :o :o Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: stroh on March 09, 2007, 07:32:44 PM (Every 6 weeks or so, I run vinegar through it to keep the workings clean.) Very good advice. Although that's chick work. Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: dystopia on March 10, 2007, 12:45:57 PM We have a Cuisinart that we received as a wedding gift. The built-in grinder is nice, but VERY loud.
The one thing that I don't like about it is that the carafe is a pain to pour out of. I thought I was doing it incorrectly, but when we had people over for brunch, other people were spilling coffee while pouring, too. I don't notice a difference in taste from my old, trusty, cheapo, Mr. Coffee model that got me though many a long night. I am the only one that drinks it. Recommend one to me. Cheaper the better but I like a good cup of coffee. Being that there's just one of you drinking coffee I'd strongly recommend a french press. My wife is like wichi ([threadjack]Raven hair and ruby lips. Sparks fly from her finger tips.[/threadjack]) and prefers instant so a 10 cup coffee maker does me no good. I have the Bodum pictured below. Throw in a grinder and fresh beans and you're in heaven. I've never noticed any difference in the taste from one coffee maker to the next.

I'm the only one in the house who drinks coffee and I've been looking for a new coffee maker. This looks very intriguing. Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: MFAWG on March 10, 2007, 06:10:05 PM What I actually said was that listing To Sir With Love as one of your all time favorite movies was absolute proof that you are, in fact, a woman.
The instant coffee thing, however.... [sm_disgust] Now, I have used freeze dried espresso as a dessert flavoring before.... But the bottom line is, you will never have a better cup of coffee, than that made from a french press. You're welcome... I think. :decision: Title: Re: Coffe maker Post by: spacey on March 10, 2007, 07:52:09 PM A french press does indeed make a helluva cup of coffee. I have one at work (the *feces* in the break room sucks donkey *8==>*) and one that I use for backpacking. Definitely a good option.
