Title: Jazz/Warriors Game 5 (spoilers)
Post by: spacey on May 15, 2007, 10:33:24 PM
One of the ugliest most pathetic looking games I've seen in a looong time. Neither team seemed to want it very much. (D Williams with 2 points and 5 fouls? WTF?) If the Jazz play like that against the Spurs or the Suns you can expect a sweep in the WC Championships. Hopefully the long layoff will give them some time to get their *feces* together.

Coming from the outside looking in I'm still impressed that the Jazz have been able to get this far after losing two first ballot HOF'ers and a couple of key "bodies" over the last few years. I don't know who your GM is but the guy must be a freakin' genius. I don't know that I would expect either team to not be swept by the Spurs/Suns, mostly because of where they're "at" (Thunder Dome/WC Finals) not because of talent or perceived lack thereof.

This is a great run for Utah, they haven't been this far in what, 10 years?

Kevin O'Connor is the GM but Sloan has been there for two decades.  Not to mention Phil Johnson and Scott Layden.  Building this team is a group effort for sure and Sloan has a TREMENDOUS amount of input.

That Sloan has never received a COTY award is a complete joke.

LOL, found this on a message board with the caption "Here's Jerry with the clowns who passed him over for COACH OF THE YEAR honors."

For Horry's cheap shot?  Turned out to be a pretty good strategic move in the end, I suppose.  [sm_devil]

bahahhaha. yeh, great strategy.   but it will result in an easy win tonight, which should hand them the series.  which in turn, hands them the nba title.

Well, you were sort of right. Suns (despite totally outplaying the Spurs for 40/48 minutes before they finally ran out of steam) got jobbed by David Stern. If the Spurs ultimately win, perhaps Stern can be named the Spurs "6th man of the playoffs." At the very least an asterisk might be in order.

suns impressed me with better D than I thought for their small roster,  but ultimately, if the spurs could have made ANY of their open shots in the 1st half, the game wouldn't have been very close. -- they got lucky they heated up in time to catch up and win

Whether Stoudemire's (or Diaw's) absence/s had any actual effect on the outcome of game 5, or ultimately the playoffs as a whole, the question mark will always linger. IMO, Stern screwed up and the Spurs and their fans ought to be as pissed about it as anyone.

If either player actually got involved, it would be different. So-called "zero tolerance" policies are ridiculous. As a Jazz fan it makes no real difference to me, I think they'll put up a good fight but ultimately lose to whichever team makes it through. As an NBA fan, though, I think its lousy.
