We don't get COLAs. I will say, however, that my performance based merit increase has failed to keep up with the rising cost of daily living. Thank god for nursing shortages and the associated wages.

We don't get COLAs. I will say, however, that my performance based merit standard flat rate across the board, no matter who the *fudge* you are, and can't figure out how to turn the *goshdarn* light switch on, while those of us who do bust our ass, and stay up in the field, get same as your any old dumbass with a heartbeat increase has failed to keep up with the rising cost of daily living.

I was thinking the same thing. We were given the range of where our performance based merit increase would be before our performance reviews even happened.  :)

BTW, the total range was 0.4%.  The incentive to bust your ass around here has really taken a beating the past two (funny, post big merger) years.

Funny I just had my annual performance review.  Every year our annual salary is benchmarked for our position within our region and we get a benchmark increase.  Then we move up within our pay grade pretty much every year until you max out at your position even if you are a retard.  When I busted my ass I got the same one jump from Fully Proficient Grade 21 to Advanced Grade 21.  When I slacked off and was on the interwebs a lot.  I got a review saying great job keep up the good work here is your $5k raise to your annual salary.  But we get an annual bonus that is almost a guarantee to be at least 25% of your taxable annual salary.  So I can't complain too much other than I'm so *goshdarn* bored.

The Social Security COLA for 2008 was 2.3%.  I beat that, at least.
