Title: Okay, wannabe beisbol Managers:
Post by: MFAWG on August 04, 2010, 11:35:22 PM
It's the top of the fifth in a home game. You are ahead 5 to 3. They have a man on 2d with 2 out

What do you do?

I'd have 'pitched' around the hitter with the open base.

I'd throw a wild pitch that hits the ondeck hitter in the balls , requires a pinch (ondeck)hitter, and thus, and makes it impossible for him to possibly hit a 3 run homer.

If they had pitched to him giving him nothing to hit, that would have made sense. This was IBB.

Un*goshdarn* believeable. I was sitting with my Filipino coworker who has that thing where his accent gets thicker when he's agitated:

'Waddafookdaristooooats!'

I'd have done that deal where you all meet at the the mound to discuss strategy for the upcoming batter and play.  The pitcher covertly gives the ball to the second baseman and then he tags the runner at second when he takes his lead during the pitcher's stretch.

But that's just me, and I haven't played organized baseball since the 7th grade.  So that may not work any more or at that level.

Could also "Give him the heater" on 3 straight pitches.

Either way.
