Title: Opinions/Beliefs [Politics/Religion]
Post by: stroh on June 02, 2008, 12:16:49 PM
Listening to the radio today.  I can not believe that there are actually people like this out there.

Quote
Caller:
.......how anyone can consider voting for Obama;  A man that very apparently hates this country!

[sm_scratch]  Where do you get that?

Quote
Wiki
After winning a landslide primary victory in March 2004 to become the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2004 with 70% of the vote.

A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, Obama worked as a community organizer, university professor,[1] and lawyer before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004.

And she wasn't using the old Frazier Crane spider monkeys hanging around the house literally deal.  She was steadfast in her resolve.

It gets better.

Nutcase Caller

Hitler was a horrible evil man, but I bet you he loved his country.

Quote
Rush
So, you're saying that Barack Obama is worse than Adolph Hitler?

Quote
Nutcase Caller
Yes I am.

Quote
Rush
On that, we'll take a break.

Are there really people out there that convince themselves of crap like this?

You're talking about folks who don't just listen to Rush Limbaugh, but call in to his show.

Did that answer your question?

IMO, most people who bother to call into any sort of radio show are intellectually suspect. Particularly when the topic is sports or Hitler.

LOL  Pretty much.

I wasn't speaking so much to the source, or talk radio in general.

I guess my point was that this woman was so adamant that this man hates this country.

It wasn't the typical "Oh, that Lefty Lib. Dem. Commie hates 'Merka."

People who hate this country don't seek to represent her people in congress.  And they certainly don't seek to hold it's highest office.

They leave, or plot it's overthrow.

On a side note, is the Torah being sold in pints now?

I couldn't think of another Torii, so I landed close.

[Edit:  And was too lazy to change the text.]

Knee jerk Republicans have a definition of patriotism that includes only themselves.  They think they have a lock on patriotism, family values, and godliness.  They have very little patience for anyone who tries to discuss complex issues in an intelligent manner.  In their simple minds intelligence is very suspect and most likely indicates bleeding-heart, liberal, leftist, pinko, socialist, or communist tendencies (which are all basically the same thing according to these conservative Republicans).

In the famous words of American flag pin wearing President Bush, "You are either with us or against us."  In other words, there is no possibility of legitimate dissent by patriotic Americans or our historic allies.  You disagree and you're a Commie.

Thankfully your educated brain is far too intelligent and evolved to promote or engage in the same type of close-minded exaggeration or stereo-typing demonstrated by those crazy conservatives...  ::)

Thanks for removing all doubt.

He didn't say "Republicans", he said "knee jerk Republicans".

To be fair, knee-jerk Democrats are just as bad, except they're bigger pussies.

Actually, I agree with your point that stereotypes are bad.  But there are some Republicans who fit the description I gave above - the kind who automatically term liberals "commies."  The first President Bush talked about "compassionate conservatism," and there are some Republicans who could be described that way too.
