No stigma.  Materazzi is well known as a thug.  He was suspended in Serie A for punching a dude in the face.  Zidane lost his head, no question about it, but I have little doubt Materazzi deserved it.   Boxing

He's not player of the year though.  I'd take Cannavaro hands down.
