Sam's or Costco
« on: November 08, 2008, 08:41:26 AM »

Our Sam's membership is about up, trying to decide to renew it or go to Costco.

Any opinions?

We have a Costco membership.

Never been in a Sam's. The only reason is that we don't have one close to us.

So I won't be serving any purpose here other than to say we've been happy with Costco.

LOL!

I've had both.  We prefer Costco.  Better selection, and seemingly better prices.

We let our Sam's membership expire, but may go back and renew it.  Karen likes what Sam's has around Christmas, and likes their meat and bakery stuff better.

We boycott Sam's as part of our overall boycott of Walmart, so we go to Costco. The boycott notwithstanding, we prefer Costco's meat and produce offerings, and it seems that they have a better selection of the things we're more inclined to buy (housewares, appliances, home improvement stuff, etc). I'd say they're roughly equal on the staples like toilet paper, drugs, etc.

My parents have memberships to both. Their Costco to Sam's visit ratio is probalby 4:1. My dad only keeps the Sam's membership because he prefers them for some of the office supplies he buys for work.
