November Elections
« on: October 09, 2006, 12:59:35 PM »

I realize that it's early and things are changing everyday, but what do you guys think will happen this November with the House and Senate?

How do you think things are going to play out?

Crats will pick up at least 30 seats and take the House. Pubs will hold the Senate, but by a very small margin (1-2 seats). Take it to the bank.

What do you guys think of the analysis at http://www.electoral-vote.com/ ?

valid or crap?

It was an interesting site to follow leading up to the 2004 presidential election, but ultimately proved incorrect.

I think it's probably a good snapshot of where the country stands today. IMHO we're still to far away to tell if it's a realistic prediction of where we will stand in November. I'd be surprised if the Foley scandal has enough traction to produce as drastic results as some are predicting.

Aside from any major development or breakthrough in the WoT, I'd say that there's enough anti-war, anti-incumbent sentiment to produce a shift in power. I think we'll see in the House but not as much in the Senate. I think their power will be diminished, but I'd be surpised if the Pubs give up the Senate.

Maybe I'm just jaded, but I've got a nagging feeling that the Republicans end up retaining both.
