I'd blame the waitress at the ultra-lavish Pacific Grille Restaurant. Or perhaps the men's room.
Plausible deniability. I'm pretty certain that our Pacific Grill waitress's hygiene practices are beyond reproach. The Multnomah County Health Department would ensure of that, right? |

started feeling it coming on Thursday morning. by Thursday night it was full blown. spent all of friday sleeping, literally. i wasn't up for more than an hour and a half all day. yesterday had to go out and clear away the 10" of fresh snow which actually made me feel a little better getting some fresh air. today i just feel like *feces*.  Bastard!! I think I'm catching your freaking cold. I'll see how hot tea, honey and Wild Turkey do tonight. |

I guess it's my turn now. I became violently ill (we'll call it "flu like symptoms" and hope that's enough) upon returning home from Christmas dinner at my brother's place. With no sleep the night before last, I got out of bed yesterday with what felt like the worst hangover I'd ever had, and about 12" of snow in the driveway.
I take back, by the way, anything mean I might have ever said about my wife, she was an absolute angel yesterday. Even volunteering to clean the driveway if I showed her how to work the snowblower. (Note to self: she did a more than adequate job of it too.)
Today, I feel as crappy as I did yesterday, but the wife somehow thinks that people in the hospital are more worthy of her ministrations than I, go figure. I've eaten a roll and some chicken broth, both of which threw it into reverse within moments of hitting the bottom of my esophagus. I'm starving, I'm nauseous, I'm running a low grade fever, every muscle in my body aches, and there are things not fit for polite company accompanying all of this.
I hate being sick. In lieu of h(ing)tfu, I am currently praying for the sweet cold embrace of death. Join me in this prayer, won't you?

Just returned home from a stay at the in-laws, joined by my sister-in-law and family. Four of them, all four sick. Respiratory-virus-sick, with fever, hacking coughs, and disrupted sleep. Thanks for being troupers and showing up for the holiday. I'm sick now, and so is my child.

I once saw a woman walking around Berkeley wearing a surgical mask like people with colds do in Japan. I was tempted to start wearing one all the time so that people wouldn't sit next to me on the subway.
