Bank ATM Card Skimmer
« on: April 07, 2009, 04:17:14 PM »

This is pretty interesting.  I'd heard about a card skimmer at an Arco gas station near me recently, but couldn't quite picture how they work.  Looks like it fits over the normal card reader, so the atm swipes normally, but the skimmer captures the data via flash card and battery.

This particular one looks primitive, but I could see how an unsuspecting person as a dark gas station might not even notice.

Dan better watch his ass.

Half of the concept is the skimmer.  The other half is someone spying (usually from a distance, using a telescope, and a decent vantage point) to see and record each P.I.N. as it's entered to match the accompanying swipe of the card.

Surprised he didn't get his ass whacked right after he took it off the machine.

This has been going on alot here lately, seems the Russians and Romanians have been involved here.

The key with the card reader is to have a small camera init so it can record the pin numbers that people enter.

Several million dollars have been skimmed todate. Shocked
