Think about it:

A man with (arguably) the most compelling biography to ever run for POTUS, a man who has been a leading member of the Congress for 25 years LOSES to a freshman Senator from Chicago.

It really shouldn't have mattered who the Veep pick was.

Look at it this way: Obama picked the "Member Of The Senate Proven To Fail" as his running mate, and still scored a win the likes of which we haven't seen since Reagan.
