registered **** offenders

I don't know about the rest of you, but having 2 children we have always kept a pretty close eye on the **** offenders list since it has been around. Over the years there have been a few in our neighborhood and it has always been good to know who they are and what they have been charged with.
 So the other day I am doing my periodic check and noticed that instead of the normal 20 or so in my zip code it has mysteriously grown suddenly to around 50. As i weed through them i notice all the new arrivals have the same address, a  drug treatment center which isn't even in my zip code. So i go to the neighboring zip that the
drug treatment center is in and there is another 70 new arrivals with the same address. That makes about 100 that showed up in a month. So i go to the State Dept. of Corrections website and start cross referencing the names and these guys were all paroled in the last month. 

I have corresponded with a reporter from the local newspaper (actually a large circulation, 213k) and she is supposed to be checking in to what is going on and why all these scum of the earth have showed up in our community. The majority aren't even from this county. So hopefully i will soon be able to link to a news story. My next stop is the city government.

This drug treatment center is right next door to a bowling alley, movie theater complex and Bally's fitness center all frequented by potential victims. To say the least my daughter won't be "dropped off" at the movie theater anytime soon.

So what i am saying is pay attention to what is going on in your community. No one else has your families best interest in mind. 

I've looked at the lists in my area in the past and have concluded that the majority of the names on it are completely harmless people with questionable criterea as to why they're on the list.  Some of the 'crimes' are not even of a ****ual nature and only one step above spitting on the sidewalk.  Seems some of these list coordinators take things too far.

However, having a facility with 100 parolees close to a movie theater my daughter may visit - yikes!  Every right to be concerened there!

I'm hesitant to comment on this at all. I live in a state where institutionalized, ACTUAL HOMICIDAL MANIACS escape from FIELD TRIPS to the State Fair.

So, we've got that going for us, which kind of sucks, actually.

I do have a question, which may or may not be followed by a comment:

Why is 'Drug Treatment Center' in air quotes?

Don't forget all the folks who were arrested for child pröñ at the "treatment facility for ****ual deviants" here in this fine state.  Should I mention that the facility is on an island in Puget Sound and access to the island is controlled?
