Lost a friend today.
« on: November 18, 2009, 09:47:30 PM »

Actually, over the weekend. His sister just called me (bless her soul, called everyone in his cellphone)

He knew his habit would kill him, and I suspect he quit the hard (easy) way.

He'd been at it too long for it to be an accident. He had it pretty much under control, kept a job but was always broke and  needed money. I loaned him a few bucks now and then.

He mostly paid me back, or I'd tell him to forget it.

I'm afraid I loaned him a C note last Friday.

Not sure how to feel about that part.

Sorry to hear MFAWG.  Sad

Those of us that lived the lifestyle popular in the 70's and early 80's have known this sadness too many times. People make their own choices.

After sleeping on it, I feel alot worse about this:

His sister just called me (bless her soul, called everyone in his cellphone)

Than I do this:

I'm afraid I loaned him a C note last Friday.

It's not like I didn't know what could happen, and probably would eventually.

Sorry for your loss, MFAWG.

Grieving sucks.  My recommendation (from experience): get beyond the what-ifs.  They are not healthy.

Thoughts / prayers.

Good advice, that.

I'm still marveling at the willingness to do the completely *feces*ty job of calling everyone in the cellphone, especially given the type of individual a couple of those people were bound to be.

I'd met her once or twice, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have recognized my name. Poor woman.  Sad

Sorry Fawgie. Grieve a time, and let it go, his choice not yours.
