No. They've been rewriting it for the better part of a century, mostly as a reaction to (perceived) 'Creeping Secularism' and in the last 30 years to advance a political agenda.

That's how

'Thou Shalt Not Kill' which served JUST fine for the better part of 5 centuries

became

'You Shall Not Murder'

in the latter half of the 20th century as capital punishment became harder and harder to defend.
