your direct energy use?
« on: October 03, 2006, 03:02:15 PM »

we use somewhere around 1000-1100 kwh/month summer, and around 700-800 kwh /month the rest of the year    (this does not refect water heater, as the apartment building handles that)

we use about 20-25 gallons of gasoline a month (depending on exact amount of driving and city/highway) ... this is still alot considering how much we ride the shuttles/buses

we need to do better

Good question.  We just moved and I've been meaning to compare our usage in the old vs. new house.

I just checked my online account and our old house averaged ~250 kWh/mo. over the last 11 months.  Gas averaged ~17 Therms in summer, ~55 Therms in winter.  This is for 2 people, 1 beagle.

Ugh, the new house is bigger, though, and has AC. Embarrassed

I'm even worse with gasoline.  The new house is far from work, and my commute is now 1.5 hours each way.  I'd estimate ~70 gallons/mo. just for me.  Once we get settled in the new house, I'm going to find a closer job.

1 therm is about 30 kwH
so, summer: 760 kwH
winter: 1900 kwH
