They really don't have a clue

Very simply put, greed is the answer. In this day and age where every company is either a public owned company or striving to be one, the pressure to do the most with the least and boost the bottom line is the root cause of worker unhappiness. The amazing part is the shareholders get very little and the management are the ones who are the real beneficiary.
