So I took my car in to the dealership for an airbag recall and I've got two hours to kill.  The good news is that there's an carl's jr across the street! The bad news is I don't think they're serving lunch yet. Undecided

So your car has an airbag fault and they ask you to drive it to the dealership??

By the same token, when you find out your car has an airbag fault, and before you can get to a dealership, do you drive any differently, knowing the thing could go off at any moment??

How'd it be if you're driving along, shaving your bush, while your ex-husband takes the wheel and the airbag when it off?? ....

Honda is recalling some of its 2001 model year Accord and Civic models due to excessively pressurized airbags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that certain airbags in the affected vehicles can deploy so violently that the inflator will rupture. When the bag is deployed, NHTSA says that metal shards from the excessive explosion could act like shrapnel, shoot through the bag and possibly injure vehicle occupants.

From the description, I think you might get a closer shave.

2001? For a guy who gets a new phone every time there's a new Android/iPhone release, that's a little surprising.  Grin

lol.  Grin   I'm still using the original 2G iPhone that I bought on launch day and my Android phones were given to me by Google.

Some things I try to use until they die.  My goal for this car is to get it to 186287 miles.  It currently has about 169,000.  My last car died around 180k.

I don't think I can outlast my 12 year old 17" CRT monitor, though or my 7 year old 50" rear projection behemoth TV.  The lure of flat screens is too strong.

We got rid of a Sony tube TV last year. We bought it in 1994, and it was still going strong. Don't expect those things to die. They're like Orcs.

My parents still have a Kenmore microwave oven that they bought in 1980 or thereabouts. I think they had to replace the lightbulb or something like that just once in 30 years.

If people actually kept things long enough to kill them, electronics and appliance companies would be going BK in droves.

That reminds me. Isn't there another post floating around about what's the oldest thing you own and still use/wear??

Just found out that the recall applies to a couple of other 2002-2003 models built on the same platform.  Cussing

And give up on determining the significance of 186287.

hmm still an hour to kill so might get a haircut, but that will involve walking by a cheesesteak shop, French dip sandwich joint and a popeyes.  I don't like my chances.

So I went back today to get that haircut.*
