I was thinking about the origins of the response: - "That's about as funny as a fart in a spacesuit", and I was wondering if this came about very early on in the space program when an astronaut farted while wearing his spacesuit and gave himself pinkeye....

In that respect, farting in a spacesuit is clearly not funny.
