Hmm, this isn't as cool as I initially thought. I thought it was at Aquatic Park by the bay, which would be a great place to hang out and drink beer. But it's at a park in downtown Berkeley, which, while close to BART, doesn't have the same atmosphere. I'll try to come up with some other ideas. On the other hand... Attendees can have as many beer samples as they'd like -- no tasting tickets will be issued -- but still won't try everything due to the sheer number of unique brews that will be available. The most recent list of confirmed participants boasts 31 breweries, all hand-chosen by people who know more about beer than most.

This Winter Brews Festival promises to expose beer lovers, new and experienced, to a variety of tasty beers, as well as raise awareness and funding for two local non-profits; the Coral Reef Alliance and BAD RAP (Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About (child-eating) Pit bulls). spacey approves. LOL  I'm up for whatever. Got out early so I drove the bridge loop including downtown today.(11 farking bucks in tolls? Great boogely woogely) So I can say I did that. Tough to see things and tougher to take pictures. After soaking a few to clam my nerves from that ridiculous traffic (apparently the MN plates didn't give away the fact that I'm from SoCal and was more interested in taking pictures on my iphone while driving of the GG Bridge and Alcatraz than they were on commuting. Assclowns. *fudge* 'em.) I think I'll jump on the train and ride back into downtown. See if I can ride one of those rice-a-roni deals to say I did that too. Wanted to take my truck up to the top of one of the hills and come screaming down Streets of San Francisco style, but again, to much hassle with people honking at me and flipping me off. So, next trip I guess. If I land right smack downtown, anywhere I should hit? |

I do need to should come back to the hotel and check in with Karen and Maddie and I have some homework/quizzes I need to get done. Having said that I can stay out all night. It's been done. Got the chili cheese. Overall it was good. Tiny little joint where you are expected to know what you want and how to order. I learned that quickly by the two people in front of me *goshdarn* it up and pissing off the Soup Nazi. When it was my turn I went all Costanza on it. The only thing I didn't think of was it being smothered lathered in chili so you have to eat it with a fork. I don't like it that way. I like to eat them like hot dogs. I don't do any type of open face sand wedges. Hate soggy bread. OTT the dag was good. I'd do it again.  |

They've been in business for 70 years and they sell: Hot dogs, polish, and hot links. The *goshdarn* condiments are over there, and you figure that *feces* out on your own. It's not brain science, and it sure as hell isn't 'Fine Dining'. It's lunch, or a quick supper. Once you get the hang of it, you are definitely in. There are off menu items as well, which can vary by location. The Hayweird one always had breakfast and linguica, and Union City/Fremont had chorizo. I don't do any type of open face sand wedges I'm with you there, and the chili just wasn't that good. I usually did just a couple of dawgs with kraut and mustard, or maybe a hot link to mix things up. What I always thought was kind of neat about the place was that there isn't any really recommended way to do it, unlike Nathan's in New York where there's no ketchup or tomatoes anywhere in sight. I'm curious: Was it busy? Back in the day, if you went between 11 and 1, lines could be out the door, at any location. |
