When he discovers a way to make more oil, call me.

From the story:

When it was Mr. Hamm's turn to talk briefly with President Obama, "I told him of the revolution in the oil and gas industry and how we have the capacity to produce enough oil to enable America to replace OPEC. I wanted to make sure he knew about this."

The president's reaction? "He turned to me and said, 'Oil and gas will be important for the next few years. But we need to go on to green and alternative energy. [Energy] Secretary [Steven] Chu has assured me that within five years, we can have a battery developed that will make a car with the equivalent of 130 miles per gallon.'"

Good luck getting a tractor and a combine to run on this green energy source.  The Libtards are too stupid to realize that it take fossil fuels to put food on the table.

Not to mention that every oil well that is drilled employs in the neighborhood of 100 workers.

As far as making oil, the earth does it on its' own.  There probably isn't a place on the earth that you couldn't hit oil if you drilled deep enough.  MFAWG, you might want to study geology/geo-physics.

Does it? I was not aware of this.  The only person I have EVER heard make that assertion is Rush Limbaugh, amd I'm pretty sure he's studied less geophysics than I have.

Good luck getting a tractor and a combine to run on this green energy source.

I would think it would be an ideal application, given that range isn't really the issue it is with passenger vehicles. Am I missing something?

Besides, nobody in the history of EVER has done it, amirite?

I grew up in farm country in southwest ND.  Many of these guys are running a 24/7 operation to get the crop into the ground for two to three weeks and some are out for 4 weeks.  I really don't see a feasible way to run a tractor without using diesel fuel.  You also must realize that these large tractors have  engines that are putting out 360-560 hp.  That would take an enormous electric engine to put out that kind of power.  Locomotives do it, but even they need to run a generator that burns guess what, diesel fuel.  Same thing getting the crop out of the ground, except that then they aren't running 24 hrs a day.  Late evening it usually gets to humid to thrash the grain.

Do a search and read about the Abiotic Theories.  The Russians are or were drilling well past what is thought to be the "known" depth of organic matter.

And who can forget the Solyndra scandal.  The taxpayers are out half a billion dollars on that great green energy source.  And I think that I saw a blurb that there was another solar energy company that screwed the taxpayers out of more than Solyndra.

You must have known that I'm exactly the type of *bunghole* that will do cursory research:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...biogenic_petroleum_origin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Gold

In light of the controversy surrounding the sludge and possible drill contamination, Gold abandoned the project at Gravberg-1, calling it a "complete fiasco", and redesigned the experiment by replacing his oil-based drilling lubricant with a water-based one.[47]

The drill hit oil in the spring of 1989, but only collected about 80 barrels (13 m3). Gold stated, "It was not coming up at a rate at which you could sell it, but it showed there was oil down there." The drill then ran into technical problems and was stopped at a depth of 6.8 kilometres (4.2 mi). The hole was closed, but a second hole was opened for drilling closer to the "center of the impact ring where there was even less sedimentary rock". By October 1991, the drill hit oil 3.8 kilometres (2.4 mi) into the ground, but many skeptics remained unconvinced of the site's prospects.[41][48] One skeptic, Christer Akerman, the chief geologist of the Geological Survey of Sweden, remarked, "[t]here is every reason to stay calm and await the analysis of what they have found. The point is also that they will have to find commercially viable amounts, and it may be a long time before we know if they do."[49] Geologist John R. Castaņo concluded that there was insufficient evidence of the mantle as the hydrocarbon source and that it was unlikely that the Siljan site could be utilized as a commercial gas field.[50] Some skeptics countered Gold's claims by suggesting that the oil found was actually contamination from the drilling.[30]

Because you sure as *fudge* tried to wave the shiny keys of 'Obummer Bad!' before you left.

It sounds like a typically  'Conservative' solution: Something that doesn't really work, but might work if we just do it more and pray  harder.

This looks like a FANTASTICALLY credible website:

This one is REALLY good, and I'd highly recommend that you read it:

Simply put, congitive dissonance theory states that when you have two opposing ideas (or ideologies) at the same time, you will act upon the one that causes the less distortion to your ego.
