In my flight of the mens club championship, 15 of 17 players were under par on the net, and 12 of those were 5 under or more.

Oddly BridgeBoy shot a net 59 or 58. It really was all mental.

I didn't really play well at all. I yanked one left and put it in the water on 5, made a double, then hit one OB and made a triple with a penalty stroke on 6. The rest of it was mostly bogey-par.

OTOH, I shot a gross 96 last year for dead last in the first round, so next to last in my flight isn't SO bad.

Then you add in that I honestly thought the first round was this coming week, and I didn't pick up a club or do ANY preparation at all during the week, and it wasn't too bad.

Had my first day of club champs yesterday, 74net. I wonder how I will go today as we got a 2am phone call to pick up my daughter from a sleepover as she had a terrible ear ache so we took her to the hospital and got home around 3.30am. I am currently watching the LPGA to get some inspiration. Grin
