Went to an NBA game.
« on: January 17, 2007, 08:55:23 AM » |

For 12 minutes.
Hornets vs Magic.
They played a lot of gangsta music...
Left when the 'dance team' (not cheerleaders, you understand) finished their thing after the first quarter and went round a few bars.
So it wasn't all bad.
Next time, I will miss the basketball out completely and it will be better.
Any NBA faithful here?

12 minutes -- heck you didn't even have time for the first fight to break out. Haven't been a NBA fan for years and it has a lot to do with the music selection!

LOL @ gangsta muzik. I watch on rare occasions. Usually when you have two marquee players playing each other. ex, Lebron Vs Wade. I'll probably watch the first game that Iverson and Carmelo play together. Other than that the game is too slow for me to watch. You have to admit Gilbert Arenas is a ball player. Why did you leave after 12 minutes? too much gangsta muzik or you didn't like looking at the dance team.

i watch the spurs/suns/mavs whenever they're on. very good players, actually playing some team bball
spurs and mavs even occasionally play defense
3 best teams in the league , easily, on top of it.

I like NBA but generally prefer to watch it at home- beer's cheaper, can flip channels if the game's going poorly, don't have to share armrests with obese Lakers fans, etc.

Why did you leave after 12 minutes? too much gangsta muzik or you didn't like looking at the dance team. Well, those 12 minutes of play actually took about 40. There was a kid sat on his dad's knee behind me and using my back as a football/footrest more often than I would have preferred, the game wasn't electrifying, the beers were 6 bucks for 16oz bud light, they stopped every two minutes and they had some free seat upgrade or t-shirt presentation thing going on. The guy doing that stuff was some little white gangsta wannabe and annoying as all hell. The gangsta music was probably the best part of the ordeal. We made it to the end of the first quarter just to see the cheerleaders dance team and when they were done, so was I.

LOL! You couldn't pay to go to that! I had to endure a hockey game once. I went to one Queens game, didn't care for it. Tailgating was awsome. I'll tailgate again, but when the game starts, I'll stay outside, and watch the game on tv. I guess seeing it live, isn't my gig.

My buddy is an OSU fan and we caught the last quarter of that in Tapwerks (they have about 200 import beers, wheeeee). That was a great finish, like watching it in a movie. With beer. We hit a microbrew, a piano bar (don't ask) and then Tapwerks. I had a great night, but the NBA wasn't why. Oh, we did get some bobble head figures of CP3 (not a Star Wars extra robot, as I first thought but Chis Paul III) which are pretty cool. It's snowy and icy out so the attendance wasn't massive but the venue was great. Lots of jazzy stuff and only built in the last few years.

Say it isn't so. The Queens were awesome, although we lost in overtime. But trying to watch an NFL game live, not to mention; in the Metrodome, was difficult, and a letdown.
