You gotta label your links better.  I got a new cup of coffee, a poppyseed muffin and settled in for a nice Scooter Libby read.

The Food and Drug Administration now requires pharmacies to keep medications with pseudoephedrine behind the counter and available only with photo ID and signature.

Many consumers using pseudoephedrine-based medicine for perfectly legal reasons find the new regulations excessive and inconvenient.

"I was aggravated because I use Sudafed all the time. I felt like I was buying an illegal substance or narcotic," said one female drugstore customer.
Exactly which illegal substances does one have to present photo ID and sign for?

I think any narcotics.  Could be wrong.

I guess I'm in the minority here -- make it harder on the criminal element / kids to get their hands on it.

i disagree. it will simply be made from other substance-sources (hey, good job market for all those recent BS chemists who cant find a job here in our thriving McJob economy) or illegally brought in through our (so secure) borders.

meanwhile, for example,  those big breeder farmer families who live in rural areas (supposedly also where all the meth labs are!) who have no 24 hour/no sunday pharmacies etc will have sick families of 5-7 for 24-48 hours without access to helpful  OTC medications

$.02 but
survey 100 people and I bet 70%+ will tell you its just as easy today as it was before this law to go buy  meth

Dude, it's easier to buy meth than it is cold medicine.

I got turned away in a long line at Target when the twins both had colds and I wanted to buy both liquid and chest patch kinds of medicine.

They wouldn't let me get them.  Maybe I was going to drain the patches to feed my still or whatever it was I had in the back of my pickup in the car park?

The other cool thing was when I was in a Target to pick up a couple of items and a box of sudafed and they made me pay for the meds at the pharmacy.

But not the 3 other items I had. So I needed to go up to the registers in front of the store. I was happy.

IMO, this does nothing but inconvenience law abiding folks. Meth will get made.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this way but why not let 'em make meth?
Hell, encourage it. Not like we're losing a really productive part of society anyway.
1 year 2 tops and we'll have thinned the herd.
