Working on my full swing
« on: February 10, 2007, 01:48:45 PM »

In my golf class in my college I was videotaped. I had a great swing, but I saw that my arms/wrists were breaking down on the top of the swing causing my club to go way past parallel. Nevertheless the shot went nicely. BUT, I have been fixing my swing shortening my swing and making sure my wrists and arm are solid on the top of my swing, and now my club is perfectly parallel (or just short of in my irons). I am hitting them lower and farther. From my practice at the range I went from hitting an 8 iron 150 to hitting a 9 iron 150. I noticed this when I was at the course and blasted a 9 iron from 150 over the green with helping wind.

The only thing is that I have to REALLY get used to the change of tempo. My swing is too fast considering I used to have to make the effort to bring my swing back in plane with my longer swing. Anyone have any suggestions how I can slow down my tempo?

i try to do that '17 hit'  thing I heard a pro mention a long time ago

you say "sevennnteeen  hit" in your mind... starting as you take away...  your transition to the downswing should be at the end of the 'een'  and you should be hitting the ball in the middle of the 'hit'
