First.
I want to thank all of you, who offered help. I know this is going back a bit.

I gave the the thing to an IT guy at work. He says, (a) (the)?? Video card was bad, when the thing would start up, it got to there, and got "confused", and then just shut down again.

I dunno. Way over my head. No new parts!, No replacements! ( no money, other than some beer)

I brought it home today. I have been online for a while, re-loading, and doing system updates.

Man-O-Man!

I want to offer my heart felt sincere thanks to all of you folks who "chimed in" to help me out.

You guys are great!

Having a hard time figuring out how a bad video card was fixed without any replacement parts.  Scratches Head

At any rate, you're welcome for my not offering any sort of advice.

Yeah, me too.

I guess, bad is realtive.

Like I said, he is an in house IT guy, maybe he put a new one in.Huh??

Real question is what should I give him??

20 bucks? 40?  He did it on his own time.  Case of beer?

R.  You got the ball rolling with your post.  I was gonna leave it sit.  I am a real procrastinator.

As long as he really didn't replace any parts (maybe he just updated drivers  Huh?) I would say a case of beer or a bottle of his favorite hooch is fair payment.
