i read once (cant find the link) that comedy central stuff got something like 8% of the total youtube traffic.   mostly daily show and colbert stuff


corporations should learn...  people get (for free) MOST ESPECIALLY the items you do not make available yourselves.   on site traffic-ad revenue/DVD sales/ paid dowloads/whatnot   increase when you offer WHAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT.

I heard on NPR (libs) that when Google bought youtube they were finding most copyright holders were more interested in negotiating some type of profit sharing solution than they were suing to have content removed. Makes sense to me, but I don't work for Viacom.

exactly, it's using someone else's bandwidth to basically shill your product.  if the product isn't available for sale,  why care ?
