From the, "that's teh sukk files"...
« on: April 19, 2007, 08:18:09 PM »

Submitted a job application for another Insurance Company via a Recruitment agency Tuesday, interviewed with the agency Wednesday morning. They submitted my application to the client who was suitably impressed.

Only problem was that in the meantime the Company HR guy had "Head Hunted" a bloke to fill the role and had interviewed him and made an offer.

Company explains to Recruitment Agency that had they seen my application sooner (which was not the fault of the Agency) they wouldn't have offered this guy the role, and subsequently want to keep my application on file should something else come up.

On the one hand this is 'teh sukk' because it was a prime role circa $100K+, on the other hand 'yay me' as I now have greater bargaining power with them to push for a much higher salary next time.

mmm voluntary redundancy...

On the bright side, more time to ponder the fundamental interconnectedness of everything.

Either your credentials qualify you for stratospheric employment positions, or I'm beginning to understand my insurance premiums a little better.

No kidding.  I toil in the insurance biz myself and I'm not making no $100k+.  Twoiron must be executive material. Cool

LOL...Here's the thing, the insurance industry here is reasonably solid and if you know your stuff you can just about name your salary.  The insurance industry is now seeing more capacity coming back into the market since 9/11 and as a consequence premiums are trending downwards. If I can set rates such that I can obtain Loss Ratios and Operating Ratios at less than 100% and generate a Return on Investment at 14% or better, at the same time as retaining existing business and generating new business then everyone's happy.  It's all a numbers game really... and it's a matter of getting those numbers right.  So I'm happy to take what ever salary is thrown my way.

Wow... so this was post 1000...woohoo.lol. Wink Grin

Yeah, but it's probably in Australian dollars so I think it's really only about $17,000.
