You're probably right about the record needed for a wildcard but, as the Steelers have shown, injuries are huge in the NFL. Every team is 2-3 guys away from spiraling down the drain.
As I suggested, when all is said and done, the Steelers are toast. I'm not a fair weather fan but I'm not sure I want to get all wrapped up in clinging to a 3% chance for two months that they'll manage to pull it out.
It's a shame really. They're missing some key ingredients from last year so I didn't expect a repeat but they clearly have a playoff caliber team if they're healthy.
I don't think we should underestimate the long-term effects of the past four months on Roethlisberger. I think the chances are reasonable that he'll never again perform at the level he did for the past two seasons.
true, i mean, i'd love to see them right the ship overnight, but it just wont happen. 11-5, AND luck, and maybe they get in the playoffs, but they need luck, and then they gotta win 3 more on the road to get into the super bowl.
as for ROTH, he was* playing great against kc and atlanta. showed little to no let down from last year... .... but rushing him back in against OAKLAND showed the mistake of both bad shrot and long term thinking.... anyone remember steve young and troy aikman ? they had some rush-back post-concussion games and laid eggs similar to what roth just did.... there's were in the 5-6 concussion range though, not the 2. really, for their long term future, I think they should bench him this year, tank out, and get the best draft pick they can. the OL and LB corps could use some shoring up. of course, another premier receiver wouldn't hurt (jackson, ginn or manningham(if he comes out) ) imagine that set... ward, holmes, and one of those 3....
