Minnesota law does state that pedestrians have the "right-of-way".
..........and to pedestrians lawfully Yes, but you went the opposite direction of saying that they "don not have the right-of-way". You went on to somewhat clarify; however, our lawyer decided to correct your initial statement. I did not retract my initial statement(post). My rant was the overwhelming thought/mentality of the pedestrians, they, "empirically" have the right of way. I think our resident barrister was pointing out (I'm assuming) on my latter rant.(I was incorrect) I, having read the statute several times(thanks to you  ) can't find his intent. |

I, having read the statute several times(thanks to you ) can't find his intent. Maybe his intent was for you to try to find his intent when he really didn't have an intent.  |

I'm just tired of trying to drive, and constantly running into these idots(no pun intended) who have heard that phrase, and think they can run out into traffic whenever they want because.............well............blah, blah blah blah!) Scenario A:
I'm coming home tonight, and make the turn around the 4th green......I see this kid walking toward the street. It's obvious, he hit his ball over the green, and through the street. I start to veer to the left, and he never loses stride, headed across the road..I slow down('cause I know he won't), and slam on my brakes, and swerve way left......He raises his club and mouths some words, like it's my fault for not allowing him free pass across the street.........like I almost hit him? I was an ass for not stopping to let him cross the street? WTF?
Scenario B:
Later tonight. We took Maddie to the park. Coming home, I signal, slow down, and veer right on the residential street (see graphic) And I'm talkin about 15 MPH at the most........Karen says "Hun, they were yelling at you for not letting those people cross." WTF??!!! The guy in the truck was at a stop sign! I was exiting a "Highway"! (It's St. Francis. What can I say? I don't make the rules, I just survive them)
I can see them being pissed if the truck went, but I can't stop for them..........

Ouch, twice in one night. Once is more than plenty.
Sorry for giving you a hard time about your rant. It's dangerous when people don't follow the traffic laws. And it sure would feel horrible to hit someone even when you are the one following the rules.
On the other hand, I've almost been hit by drivers that aren't paying attention. Basically, I forgo the "right-of-way" unless the driver indicates that they will let me pass because I don't want to be hit. I've been in enough accidents in a car and enough near collisions both in a car and on my bike (I can assure you none were my fault) that I don't want to even come close to either happening again.
