Night Shifts Suck

I had to work my first night shift in over 3 years last night, and if the title somehow alluded you, let me say it again, NIGHT SHIFTS SUCK!
I have been on special assignment the last 3 years, working in an Operations Rep. capacity, I had been working as an Operations Advisor which required a 4 on 4 off 12 hr. rotating shift schedule. I recently accepted a position with our international division that will either send me to Tengiz, Kazakhstan or off-shore in Nigeria on a 28/28 rotation that will start sometime in the next 6 months.
As I am somewhat of a lame duck here, I got stuck back on shift, which isn't all bad, 4 on 4 off allows for a lot of golf, but I now have to deal with 12 hr. night shifts and no sleep for 4 days. So, if I somehow manage to come off as an even bigger idiot the next 4 days, it's the night shifts.

I was gonna say, ever think of "chucking" it all, and chasing the American dream? Like opening up your own bar. But I didn't. So I won't. On Topic. I worked that shift plenty.(Medical field. Hospitals.) I feel your pain brother. Hang in there.  |

I've been to Tengiz a couple of times, and it basically is Evanston with a bunch of funny talking foreigners, so I would prefer Nigeria. But, with all of the civil unrest in Nigeria (we have 10 employees being held hostage as result of off-shore facilities being foricibly boarded in 3 separate incidents) I am pushing for Tengiz. |
