The league will be called the United Football League and has attracted its very first owner: Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA. This is probably the second mistake. OK, I take that one back.

Umm, that name has been used as percussor to the old Continental Football League, where Bill Walsh played for a couple of years.

Everything old is new again, and I'd guess there's a market for professional football that DOESN'T cost 300 bucks a seat...

I think what that lame experiment showed is that despite what my wife may think, there's not necessarily a natural crossover between football fans and professional wrasslin' fans.

We have an Arena Football team here and by all accounts it is thriving. I can't stand it, but I've only ever watched it on TV. Word is that you have to see it live to get it. Personally, between the NCAA and the NFL, I don't know how much more football I have time for in my life. Oh, and Mark Cuban is a douche.
