Wendy's customer opens fire on Miami staff over condiments

MIAMI — A Wendy's restaurant manager almost lost his life to a disgruntled customer early Tuesday morning.

The cause?

Chili sauce. The shooter wanted more.

According to Miami-Dade police, just after midnight, a man was going through a Wendy's drive-through. As he picked up his meal, he told the attendant he wanted extra chili sauce.

When he didn't get his sauce right away, he began arguing with the attendant.

Then, when he did get his sauce, he wanted more.

The attendant told him restaurant policy prohibits a customer from getting more than three packets.

The customer insisted on 10.

The attendant complied, but the customer continued arguing.

The attendant asked the customer to pull up so the manager could come out and speak with him.

"The manager came out to inform him of company policy, and he shot at him several times," said Mary Walters, a Miami-Dade police spokeswoman.

A security guard was on duty at the time, but Frage said he was asleep during the ordeal. The sound of gunshots woke him up.

I'm glad this wasn't about Dave Thomas' "hot sauce shooting".

I love Wendy's Chili Sauce. They rarely give you enough. I pour two packets onto my burger, and mix it into my ketchup for the fries. It's pretty good in chili too.

I didn't even realize they had any chili sauce until I saw this article.  I've got to try it.

I do prefer Popeye's hot sauce over KFC's.

Wendy's is obviously missing a product opportunity here.  Just bottle the sauce!

I'd buy it.  Good stuff.  My wife makes fantastic chili but keeps it on the cool side for herself and the kids.  A shot or two of Wendy's sauce would be just the ticket.
